Define the Pavilion and Covered Space
Share the intended use and layout of tables, seating or other equipment beneath the pavilion. The roof overhang and post positions affect usable space differently, so include both in the dimensions. Check approaches, paths and access around the outside for maintenance.

Resolve Foundations and the Complete Support System
The posts, beams, roof and foundations work as one system. An existing paved area does not establish that it can support the pavilion or accept the required anchors. Wind exposure and the selected roof affect support and anchoring. Follow the product or prepared design rather than changing post positions to suit furniture. Structural design, modifications and applicable approvals need to be resolved with the appropriate parties before erection. Utilities or solid side panels added later can also change the project.
Plan Roof Drainage and Ground Conditions
Look at the existing slope and where rainwater travels across the site. Roof runoff needs a destination that does not erode around the supports or cross the main entry path. Confirm whether gutters, downspouts or other drainage components are part of the chosen system.
The surface under a roof still needs to suit outdoor exposure. Water can enter from the sides, and a roof does not correct a low or unstable paved area. Coordinate any drainage or ground correction before the pavilion limits access to the footprint.
Inventory the Frame and Choose Finishes
Check posts, beams or trusses, bracing, roof components and connectors against the kit list. Large pieces and specialized hardware should be confirmed before work starts; missing structural parts cannot be substituted casually. The assembly sequence must maintain the stability of the frame as the roof is installed.
Wood, metal and other systems have different fastening and finish requirements. Decide what coating or treatment is included and whether areas need finishing before assembly makes them difficult to reach. Discuss the appearance beside existing structures while allowing for differences between new and weathered materials.
Arrange Delivery and Trade Access
Measure gates and delivery routes, and note overhead obstacles or ground that cannot support handling equipment. Allow staging room outside the final footprint. Include removal of an old structure and disposal where needed.
If the pavilion includes lighting, fans, cooking equipment or other utilities, identify the separate qualified work and its sequence. Keep connections accessible until the required checks are complete rather than closing them behind finish pieces.
