Confirm That the Bike Is New and Complete
Send the exact make and model, frame size as listed by the manufacturer, and the assembly manual. A photograph of the boxed or partly assembled bike helps show what remains to be installed. Keep supplied hardware and accessories with the bicycle. Flag shipping damage, missing parts or a previous assembly attempt rather than assuming those issues can be corrected during routine setup.
Describe What the Manufacturer Leaves to Assemble
The parts packed separately vary by bicycle, so the work is based on the instructions for that model. An adult commuter bicycle, a child’s bike with supplied accessories and a folding retail model may arrive at different stages of assembly. Identify the exact format rather than assuming the wheel size describes the work. Identify loose wheels, handlebars, pedals, saddle components or accessories where present. The manual should also show any steps assigned to a specialist. Do not substitute a generic online checklist for the requirements of the actual bicycle you purchased.
Provide a Clear Place to Work
Have the bicycle, all packages and the instructions available at the property. Choose a clear area with room to lay out parts and move around the frame. Protect nearby finishes while unpacking and keep small fittings together; the completed bike also needs an unobstructed route out of the work area. Tell us if the bike is being stored upstairs, in a shared building or somewhere with restricted access. Keep the packaging until the parts have been checked and any delivery problems are understood.
Review Basic Setup and Fit
Assembly and basic fit checks follow the manufacturer's guidance for the completed bicycle. The review concerns secure attachment and the prescribed position of supplied parts such as the handlebar, wheels, pedals and saddle, plus the manufacturer’s required pre-use checks. A brake or drivetrain problem discovered during that review remains a specialist-service issue. Mention any concern about the intended rider's fit so it can be raised before handoff. This is not a professional bike-fitting service. Any loose, damaged or unresolved component needs attention before riding; completing the visible assembly does not replace the checks required by the bicycle's instructions.
Identify Work That Needs a Different Service
Repairs, routine tune-ups, wheel truing and brake or derailleur servicing are outside this assembly scope. If those needs become apparent, they should be addressed by an appropriate bicycle service provider before use. For an electric bicycle, identify the model at inquiry; battery, motor and electrical diagnostics are separate. Manufacturer-prescribed basic assembly and fit checks remain part of this service; specialist mechanical servicing and electrical diagnosis are separate.
