Western Red Cedar Lumber Association Launches On-Line Training Resource: On-Line Cedar School Now Available
The Western Red Cedar Lumber Association (WRCLA) announces the availability of its online training resource - On-line Cedar School (www.cedar-training.org). This new resource is tailored to provide cedar information to interested parties for rapid and convenient online training at a lower cost than traditional training methods.
The WRCLA developed On-line Cedar School to provide professionals throughout the entire supply chain an easily accessible and consistent resource essential to the Cedar business. The online resource leverages the power of the Internet to engage the learning audience and improve comprehension.  "With increasing competitiveness throughout our industry, it is essential we improve the speed and ease of information to the supply chain," said Peter Lang, general manager of the WRCLA. "We're excited to make this convenient and consistent resource widely available on a 24X7 basis."
The online version complements the overall Cedar School program providing seven training modules key to the Cedar business: Forestry 101, Wood Properties, Wood Manufacturing, Products & Grading, Cedar Marketing & Promotion, Installation of Cedar, Finishing & Maintenance. Additionally, a certificate will be awarded to those who complete the online course and score 70% or greater on a final exam. Certification is a prerequisite for Cedar retailers to be listed in the WRCLA's Purchasing Cedar database.
"The program was developed by industry experts to provide an in-depth, objective understanding of Western Red Cedar for building products sales and marketing professionals at all levels," added Lang. "Even seasoned professionals will pick up new ideas and information about Western Red Cedar."
